Riverbank cabins to stay

CABINS at Warburton Caravan Park will be able to remain where they are after the Department of Sustainability and Environment reviewed plans to force the removal of key riverside sites.
Cabins located on the river bank will remain within 20 metres of the river until they have reached the end of their useful life.
Rainwater tanks and gardens must also be established near each cabin to ensure stormwater from the cabins is not discharged directly into the river, and the river bank will be revegetated to improve stability and aesthetics. A draft master plan showed that up to 70 camp sites would be moved or scrapped, including sites with cabins.
But Gembrook MP Brad Battin said the caravan park would be enjoyed for years to come after DSE reviewed its recommendations.
