HEALESVILLE under-11s had a lot of the play in their first DRJFL grand final appearance at Woori Yallock on Sunday but couldn’t convert on the scoreboard against their fast-running Mount Evelyn opposition.
It was a tough start to the game with Healesville going into quarter time with a slim one-point lead.
Mount Evelyn came out the second quarter and dominated the play to score three quick goals. Healesville managed to score a goal, but went into half time trailing Mount Evelyn by 13 points.
Mount Evelyn extended their lead to win 5.6 (36) to Healesville 1.5 (11).
Luca Goodwin kicked the Bloods’ only goal and best player awards went to Callum Sibley, Jayden Garvey, Sam Gebert, Angus Amarant and William deZylva – who was named best-on-ground for the match.
Opposition coach Daniel Thiele had some encouraging words for the team.
“You guys provided fantastic opposition all year and you pressured us to an excellent game,” he said.
Healesville coach Marcus Howie also congratulated the boys saying they never stopped trying up to the final siren.
