A ROSE in the centre courtyard of Seville Primary School will serve as a reminder to students of the strategies they have learnt to keep them safe.
School captains Nik and Jasmine were helped by their Prep buddies Alannah, Samara and Samuel, to plant the Daniel Morcombe Rose as part of the school’s ‘Day For Daniel’ activities aimed at promoting awareness of keeping kids safe at school and in the community.
The school was prompted to adopt the ‘Day For Daniel’ program after a staff member read ‘Where is Daniel’, a book written by Denise and Bruce Morcombe.
With the rose beautifully dug in, mulched and watered, students had fun blowing bubbles in remembrance of Daniel, and sharing a special, and delicious, morning tea together.
The school plans to make ‘Day For Daniel’ an annual event.
“It is anticipated that our Junior School Council will take on this initiative in the futre and all monies donated will be given directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation,” teacher Robyn Farkashazy said.
