TELECOM Joe is promising a high-energy, fun night at Healesville RSL on Saturday, 14 March.
“It’s our first gig for the year … and we’re ready to go,” said band member Brendan Prout.
The popular home-grown Healesville band is donating its services for the event to help raise funds for a maxi taxi for the Yarra Valley.
Telecom Joe formed three years ago.
“Adam (Frogley) and I had been in bands back in school, and so had Ben (Wallace) and Casey (Clements), so it’s the coming together of two local bands,” Brendan said.
They have established a strong following with their gutsy ’70s, ’80s and ’90s rock including the music of Jimmi Hendrix, Powderfinger, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Paul Kelly, The Eagles and more.
Jen Ashton from Freedom By Design Inc, the social enterprise group that is behind the campaign for a maxi taxi, is thrilled to have Telecom Joe and Healesville RSL on board for the event, as well as local businesses.
“It’s going to be a fantastic night of great music and lots of fun for a really great cause,” she said.
Concert tickets, taxi and restaurant vouchers are among the prizes, and there will be a free courtesy bus on offer.
Admission is $20, with doors open at 8pm.
