THREE Yarra Junction children have planned to bring kindness back into the community.
Ella, Angus and Brianna Macdonald have begun their journey completing ‘17 acts of Kindness’ to teach their youngest sister, Ava, about respect and kindness.
“We wanted to do this for Ava, to teach her to be kind to everyone you meet,” Angus said.
The children have decided to document their experiences to be shared at Ava’s first birthday on 17 July.
Their proud mother, Amy Macdonald, said she was shocked when they came up with the idea.
“They’ve done some great things already like cooking dinner and washing the dishes for our neighbour across the road and this Sunday they plan to make morning tea and take it to the local CFA,” Ms Macdonald said.
Last week, they made their way to Yarra Valley Working Dogs in Three Bridges to donate duck and goose pellets, dog bones and dry dog food.
Owner of Yarra Valley Working Dogs, Steve Sudero, said their donations were a really great gesture.
“It’s really nice to see kids putting some thought into what they do, as we don’t see this around much anymore,” Mr Sudero said.
Yarra Valley Working Dogs train and rehab their dogs into working ability.
Some of the other kind acts the children will be doing are leaving friendly notes in their neighbour’s letterboxes, and baking cakes for the children at Gladysdale little apples play group.
The children have created a Facebook page to show their friends and family what they have done and to accept any small donations.
