A slip-up, but tip tags won’t be dumped

THE MURRINDINDI Council has moved to reassure residents that misprinted Ratepayer ID tags will still be accepted at tips, despite having the wrong dates on them.
The council sent out a media release on Thursday 10 September about the ID tags, which were recently distributed across the municipality.
Of the roughly 10,000 tags made up, 340 were printed with the incorrect validity dates – the tags should read 2016-2019, but the misprints read 2017-2019.
The tags, sent out every four years with rates notices, allow residents to receive a discount when taking rubbish to a waste transfer station in the municipality.
Murrindindi mayor Margaret Rae said the incident was a “minor printing error”, and reassured residents that all of the tags were still acceptable.
“If you are one of the few that has received a blue Ratepayer/Resident ID tag with a validity date of 2017-2019, we can assure you that your tag is perfectly valid,” Cr Rae said.
“However, if for any reason you would like your tag replaced with a correctly dated one, just pop into any of our council offices … where you will be issued with a new one.”
Cr Rae said anyone with questions about the misprint should contact Murrindindi Shire Council’s Alexandra office on 5772 0333.
