FOR most of us, it sounds like the stuff of dreams.
But it has become a reality for a retired Healesville man.
After failing to check his TattsLotto entry after the weekend’s draw, owing to a bad cold, he was none the wiser he had won a share in first division worth more than $1 million.
In a phone call he won’t forget in a hurry, and possibly got him jumping out of his sick bed, a Tatts official contacted him on Tuesday morning.
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his ticket from Sanctuary Lotto in Healesville.
Store owner, Karl Jones, said he was over the moon because the winner was a local.
“It’s only been 10 months since we bought the outlet and we’ve been desperate to sell a big one,” he said.
“Here it is – our first division one win.
“Of course, we hope it’s the first of many to come for us.”
According to the Tatts official who broke the news, the winner was understandably excited, too.
He said, “Gee, it must be millions if you’re calling me this morning?”
