HEALESVILLE residents are being invited to a night of fine dining for a good cause, with a prostate cancer fund-raiser to be held at the RACV Country Club in September.
On Saturday, 24 September, a gala dinner will be held at the country club to raise money for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
A three-course meal will be served to visitors, with raffles, a silent auction and door prizes to be drawn on the night.
Newsreader and prostate cancer survivor Brett McLeod and comedian Elliot Goblet will speak and perform on the evening.
Event organiser Anita Gottwalt, from Enjoy Life Fund-raising Events, said she was hoping to get at least 80 people along to the event.
“It would be great if I could get 200,” she said.
She said the cause of prostate cancer was close to home, with her stepfather and her father-in-law affected by it.
“He’s (Anita’s stepfather) on a regular, quarterly injection to keep the cancer at bay … so it’s close to my heart, like many other cancers, and it touched everybody, I think,” she said.
Cricket and football memorabilia, as well as a high tea, golf and car detailing prizes are available on the evening in the auction, with all proceeds from the event going towards the PCFA.
The gala dinner will be held from 7-11pm at the RACV Healesville Country Club at 122 Healesville-Kinglake Road.
Tickets are $95 per person, and include the three-course dinner, beverages, a gift bag and entry into the major door prize.
