A FATHER and his daughter are currently in The Alfred hospital after a serious car crash near Dixons Creek over the weekend.
Yarra Ranges Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Aidan Williams said about 6.40pm on Sunday 24 July, a man, believed to be 41 years old, and a woman believed to be 22 years old, were in a car that lost control and rolled on the Melba Highway.
The crash occurred on the notorious stretch of road known as The Slide, down the hill from the Healesville-Kinglake Road turn-off.
Leading Sen Const Williams said the cause of the crash was not yet known.
He said speed did not appear to be a factor, and that a toxicology test would determine whether the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Neither of the car’s occupants are believed to be from the area.
The man was taken to The Alfred hospital and has been placed in a medically-induced coma. The woman suffered a broken collarbone in the crash.
